We agree on a max number of hours for the week before it starts — say, 20. I track time openly, send you a Friday recap, and invoice on Monday. If we hit the cap mid-week, we stop and decide together whether to extend.
Yes. I'm in Recife, Brazil, billing in USD. The cost-of-living gap means $50/hr is a strong income for me and roughly half the agency rate for the same work. Everyone wins.
Rarely. The scope shifts too much when AI is involved — we usually find a faster path mid-project. Hourly with a weekly cap protects both of us better than a fixed bid that goes stale in week two.
